People from the golf fraternity are already aware about golf simulators and its capabilities. We have been encountering golf simulators at various places since a decade now and over time they have really evolved from what they used to be in the beginning. But do simulators really have what it takes to replace the actual golf game being played on the golf courses?

Earlier simulators were very basic and were not at all realistic when comparing the graphics with the actual golf courses. In fact it had dummy golf courses just for the sake of playing. Accuracy wise it was just another console game which was just for entertainment purpose and there was no accuracy at all. However today scenario is completely different from what it used to be 10 years ago. With the time and the advancements in the technology, the simulators have come a long way and have become more accurate and realistic. On the other hand the prices have reduced a lot and so has the size. Another reason for the price fall is the competition in the market. There are hundreds of simulators and everyone is trying to be the cheapest which actually benefits the customer.

Some of the advantages which simulators provide over the golf course are listed below:

Ø  Can play in any season without worrying about the weather conditions.

Ø  You can play as per your time convenience. No need to book a tee time.

Ø  You will save yourself some energy as you don’t have to walk to find the ball after every shot.

Ø  You can analyze various aspects of your game.

Ø  Allows network play over internet so people who are away from each other can still compete.

There are just some of the advantages. There are many more advantages depending on the various brands of golf simulators.

There is a lack of golf courses in many places and even if there are plenty of courses in some areas the number of people interested in playing golf is increasing day by day and the course cannot accommodate everyone at a time. Hence simulators serve the purpose of replacing real golf courses due to their minimum space requirements. Another major factor which keeps golfers away from the golf courses is the unsuitable weather conditions. People, who play golf, know that most part of the season is unplayable and simulators can help them get over it even if they aren’t as much fun as playing the real game on the course. People have already accepted simulators as a replacement when they are not able to make to the golf course. But would they ever make it a priority over golf courses? Well, it can never replace the real thing but can definitely be considered as a second option. It also depends on personal preference. Some people like playing only indoor golf while some hate it.

There are in fact tournaments happening on golf simulators at many places since it is easy to manage and many players can participate at once and compete. I definitely see a lot of potential in the future for simulators with more advanced technology. We haven’t seen the future; all we can do is, predict it. Let us hope for the best and keep golfing.
